Foundations for Change Gala
The Fundraising gala will take place on Friday November 22, 2024, at VIVO Calgary. Our theme for this year is “Foundations for Change,” focusing on the challenges Black individuals face on their journey of growth and the importance of mentorship in overcoming those barriers. It will bring together a diverse group of emerging Black talent. We believe in allyship, so there will be mentors from various races and nationalities who have a passion for leading and guiding development through mentorship.
The event will celebrate our Alliance Program’s achievements, award bursaries to recipients in the program, and highlight the impact of mentorship.
The launch of the Alliance Program is a direct result of the funding support received from Deloitte Canada. Our scholarship program aims to empower Black students to break barriers and achieve their full potential through mentorship and career development opportunities.
The Alliance Program is open to Black post-secondary students who are aligned to our mission and demonstrate commitment to the advancement of the Black community as well as their own professional development.
Our successful candidates will be awarded:
- a $2,500 bursary
- participate in Mentorship Shadow Day at one of Deloitte’s locations either in Edmonton or Calgary to gain exposure to various roles and career paths
- gain access to Crown Mentorship Foundation mentors

Guest Arrival & Registration: Guests are welcomed and registered at the entrance, where they receive event programs and assigned seating.
Cocktail Hour: Guests enjoy a cocktail hour with light refreshments
Foundation Wall: Attendees are invited to contribute to a symbolic “Foundation Wall” by placing a brick or writing a message on a mock blueprint, representing their support for the foundation of change.
- Master of Ceremonies Welcome: The evening’s MC introduces the theme of the event and welcomes guests.
- Dinner Service Begins: Guests are served a carefully curated meal reflecting the evening’s theme.

- Funder spotlight/ Keynote Speaker:
A prominent figure in education, mentorship, or social change delivers a keynote speech about the importance of laying strong foundations through scholarships and support.
- Introduction to Scholarship Program: A brief presentation highlighting the impact of the organization’s scholarship program
- Presentation of Scholarship: The scholarships are presented to this year’s recipients. Each recipient will share a short, personal story about how the scholarship is helping them build their future.
- DJ: Music
- Silent Auction: Guests are invited to participate in a silent auction, with proceeds going toward the scholarship fund.
- MC Closing Remarks: A final reflection on the evening’s theme, thanking guests for their support and encouraging further contributions to the scholarship program.
- Final Appeal: A brief, heartfelt appeal for donations to assist CMF to continue laying the foundation for future change.
- Networking Time: Guests have the opportunity to network and socialize with each other, including the scholarship recipients, before the event concludes.

We understand that plans can change. Tickets are fully refundable before November 15, 2024. However, please note that the Eventbrite fee is non-refundable. Tickets become non-refundable starting November 16, 2024.
